Plant it. Grow it. Be it.

hands Pictures, Images and Photos
Plant it. Grow it. Be it. Be the strength you've been given.

God can give you the strength to do anything. Whether you are in bondage, a situation you can't get out of, a path to destruction, in an unhealthy relationship, are depressed or fearful... God will give you the strength you ask for.

...I know you have always been concerned for me, but you didn't have the chance to help me. Not that I was ever in need, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.

Paul in Philippians 4:10-13

Cast all your cares upon The One who cares most.

Coal? Absurd!

funny christmas Pictures, Images and Photos
Set your church up for victory! Set you life up for victory! Set this country up for victory!

Something we, as Christians, tend to look over are our relationship sins. One of them being the sin to not forgive. It is even likely that you haven't forgiven someone and you don't even realize it. You may be holding a bit of a grudge against someone and not even know it.

Pray to God and ask Him to reveal this to you. This is probably something we should do often. As it is said:

So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, leave your sacrifice here at the altar. [First] go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God.

James 5:23-24

We cannot prosper when we still have a grudge... even if you don't know you quite have one. Ask Him to show you. Coal? Absurd!

Merry Christmas, beautiful people!

Make Your House a Home for All

gingerbread house Pictures, Images and Photos
Someone told me yesterday that birthdays should be a very big deal for us, and that folks should make it that way. It's so crazy when you think about it. I mean, we're celebrating that day when we actually came into this world. The exact day, however many years it has been since then. Your birthday will, and should, always be a big deal.

So we get gifts for that special someone on that one special day. Why? I guess to say, "Hey, dude. Glad you're here. Nice to have ya around." And some give gifts to say, "Welp. You made it through another year. Congrats." But in all honesty, it still seems so strange to me. Not the celebration part, but the fact that we were all once a baby. B-A-B-Y, baby.

And now we're taking this entire month to celebrate the birthday we all appreciate the most- Jesus'. It's hard to believe he was once a tiny, helpless being, relying on someone else to take care of him. The man who would save the world needed taken care of for years before he could take care of us.

Maybe that was an example on us verses everyone else. We were all taken care of to make it to adulthood. Now, maybe it's time we return the favor. Make your house a home for all.

Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday!

God Showed Up

litz Pictures, Images and Photos
As you are getting ready for the holiday season, remember this:

Yes, you WANT to get gifts for everyone. You may even have a few things you're desiring on your own list. You go ahead and enjoy it!!! But remember the reason for this warm, fuzzy feeling- God showed up.

Hope this video lifts your day and is a fun reminder of this cozy season:

Reflecting on our Dirty Mouths

color splash Pictures, Images and Photos
Obscene stories, foolish talk, and course jokes- these are not for you. Instead, let there be thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral, impure, or greedy person will inherit the Kingdom of Christ and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater, worshiping the things of this world. Don't be fooled by those who try to excuse these sins, for the anger of God will fall on all who disobey him. Don't participate in the things these people do.

Ephesians 6:4-7

We had The Love Feast last night at church. We ate together, had communion, etc. But before communion, our pastor asked us to share blessings with the folks at our table. We bragged on God for a little bit, then he asked us to share our sins with one another. Confess. In front of others. Yikes.

But my hubby and I shared with each other, and we learned of each other's weaknesses, and we are now ready to encourage and help each other in these sins. Seems like it is pretty easy for folks to excuse the speech of one another and even ourselves. But God tells us not to participate in the these things. The scripture actually says, "these people." Seems dirty or wrong, right? "Don't be fooled." So we can be saying things that are not pleasing to God and not even realize it.

Encouraging you to think before you speak today. (So will I.)

Things Worth Living For

Are the things you're living for worth Christ dying for?

Do you share your faith on a daily basis? I mean, besides all your Christian buddies. Well, the good thing is, yes- it's important to surround yourself with people that challenge you spiritually. If you're not, find someone that keeps you accountable in a way that challenges you and wants your spiritual growth on a daily or weekly basis. If you don't know where to find someone like that, your church is a great place to start. Someone that isn't necessarily involved in all your activities like work, play, etc. Someone that you know that you'd like to be more like. Find that person. And if it's your spouse, tell them you need to be challenged more. Even if you feel they already keep ya in good check, it's a good reminder for them to aid in your spiritual growth, which is obviously most important, right?

Okay. So let's say you've already got all that. But what about the "do you share your faith on a daily basis?" part. Now if you work in a Christian environment, that doesn't count. I'm talking, going out of your workplace, if that is the kind of place you work. No cheating! Ha. So you think, "seriously, though. It's harder than she makes it seem."

Well, maybe this will help- We're not sharing because we're not in desperate need of God. We don't know God as intimately as we should if we're not sharing. There can be no other reason. The video below in the "tangle" link is 10 minutes long. But you bet it will light a fire. If it doesn't, let me know. I'll help ya do somethin' about it.

Somethin' Huge!

Sorry it's been so long! I've had a crazy couple of weeks! One of my best buddies had surgery, had to take care of 'em... our last week of shows was an extra long one... and now I'm trying to adjust back with work at home, etc! So I apologize! You probably appreciated the break. ;)

Well, I've had a very amazing and inspirational 6 weeks, going on 7... and I've been too excited to get back to writing. You know how it is when you get extremely inspired. You just wanna jump up and down. You wanna get to work. You wanna do what you KNOW you were destined to do at this time in your life... And then someone or something comes along to tear you down.

Know this: It is not a coincidence. It is meant to bring you down because you are about to make something huge happen. So don't let it. Don't you dare let it bring you down. You are strong. Who is your Provider? Who has all wisdom and power and strength? Who created you and this magnificent world?

That's what I thought.

Much love for you. Find your destiny today.

Some Scripture to back you up, my friends:

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood [aka, people], but against rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

Read more of this... Ephesians 6:10-24

The version I am reading out of is an ESV (English Standard Version), which is very easy to comprehend, especially for the younger generations, people under the age of about 65 or so... :)

How Big of a Dork?...

How big of a dork am I? I've discovered (and rediscovered) some new music lately... So of course I'm inspired...

"And the worst part is
Before it gets any better we're
Headed for a cliff
And in the free fall, I
Will realize I'm better off
When I hit the bottom."

-Paramore, "Turn it Off"

Don't you feel that way? Seems like when we need God the most is when we're at rock bottom, so we're almost just better off to stay there. When we're on Cloud 9, all is good, we're like, "oh yeah, God. You rock. Thanks." But there's no more depth to it than that?

She goes on to say, in this song, that she's disappointed in the people she looked up to because they're trying to please people, just to come out "the hero."

That's all around, and most people will never see it. But in the end, do you wanna be the person who overcame because of your schemes and people-pleasing, or because of your God-pleasing boldness?

Do you find yourself in your spiritual peak when things are tough? Then change it! You can! :)

In thought, Tara K

Friend in the Middle

Two of my friends have been arguing lately, and they unintentionally made me the middle man in their disputes. I don't know if you've been in this situation, but it's rough and tough. You want to help them handle the disagreements via Matthew, but when one-on-one isn't working for them, another party should join. And well, that's where I've been.

But there came a point when I was like:

"Do you really want to talk to me, or do you just want to use me to get to the other?"

"Wow. It probably seems like that, huh? I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."

... Well. That was a couple of days ago. And I was going over it in my head, wondering, asking God to reveal to me what to do. (And by the way, don't ask unless you really wanna know.) God reminded me:

"Isn't that what you do with me sometimes? Simply talk to me to get what you need? Not quite a relationship, is it?"

"...Huh. It really does seem like that... I'm sorry. I didn't mean for that to happen."

See? Our intentions aren't always wrong, but when we don't love our neighbor as ourself, put them first, well... That's when we start asking to receive more than we need to ask what they need from us.

Just a thought.

May we all check and re-check out intentions at the door.

so come

You have taken the precious from the weary, and given us beauty for ashes, love for hate.
You have chosen the weak things of the world to shame that which is strong, and the foolish things to shame the wise.
You are help to the helpless. Strength to the stranger, a father to the child that's left alone.
You've invited the thirsty to come to the wiser, and those who have no money coming by.
So come.
So come.
We empty ourselves of ourselves.
So come.
We ask you to come.
We ask you to come.
So come.

Whatever Gets You There

back flip Pictures, Images and Photos
Whatever gets you there.  Some take a more fun route.

Do you find that the way someone else studies their Word is not for you?  Do you have a passion to study The Word?  It's very hard to do something you know you need to do if you don't enjoy it.  Someone told me the other day that they wanted their study time to not be a chore.  That is what they had been praying for.

Are you there too?  Do you look at it as laundry or doing the dishes?  Reading the bible shouldn't be like that.  You should long for it.  You should desire it.  You should need it.  If your life is chaos, there is something for you there.  You'll come to find that it's not so chaotic when you're in it.  It's all happening around you, but you have steady ground.  He'll hold you in the eye of the storm.  He'll give you the encouragement you need on a day when you need some confidence.  The Word will give you words of wisdom when you don't know what to say.  The bible will give you scripture to quote when you're on Cloud 9.

Don't know where to start or look?  Get a biblical concordance.  Totally helps.  And in the back of a lot of bibles, there are title specifics.  It's a start.  Take your own route.  Do it in a way that makes you enjoy it.  It's all part of your journey.

For every day of your life, there is a place in The Word for you.  Don't deny yourself of it.  It's no one's fault but yours if you don't, right?

No Insecurity

I woke up this morning after a horrible dream. One of those dreams that every spouse never wants to dream or see. We have horrific dreams, but why do they seem to come out of nowhere? Are they a result of something we are seeing subconsciously? Maybe. Or maybe it's because of things we saw either in or childhood or on tv that plague our fears?

Either way, I know that anything other than things of love, peace, joy and security is not from God. He does not want you to feel unloved. He does not give you anxiety. Nor does he take away your happiness. And He surely doesnt give you insecurity. Yes. Bad things happen. But He doesn't allow anything in your life that you can't handle. It's okay.

Live today in His arms. Feel Him holding you up. It's not you that He allowed to be literally crucified.

Think about it.

boots

I was just starin at my boots, my mind wandering, and I wondered, "exactly where will I take them today?" Not in a physical sense, but, in every choice I make today, a result will follow. No matter how big or small. As in, do I go get the poster board, or can I talk my hubby into getting it for me? Then, if I DO go, who will I run into? OR if I stay, what will I discover around here?

Either way, it's not a big deal which little choice I make. But once I've made it, I should make it, stay with it, adjust to where I am.

Same as life- you can't change people, and you can't change God. You can't even change who you used to be.

But that's no reason not to be a better person than you were before. Tell someone you apprecite them. Tell someone you love them. Let your boots be on a path to righteousness if anywhere else.

Where r ur boots takin ya today?

Duck Tape Ain't Got Nothin' to do with It

duct tape sofa Pictures, Images and Photos
Yup.  I'm pretty sure that's duck tape too.  But that's got nothing to do with the story.

My husband recommended this.  Enjoy.  It's kinda scary though.  You have been warned.  :)

2 Chronicles 7

THE LORD's Response to Solomon
11 So Solomon finished the Temple of the LORD, as well as the royal palace. He completed everything he had planned to do in the construction of the Temple and the palace.12 Then one night the LORD appeared to Solomon and said,

"I have heard your prayer and have chosen this Temple as the place for making sacrifices.13 At times I might shut up the heavens so that no rain falls, or command grasshoppers to devour your crops, or send plagues among you.14 Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.15 My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place.16 For I have chosen this Temple and set it apart to be holy—a place where my name will be honored forever. I will always watch over it, for it is dear to my heart.
17 "As for you, if you faithfully follow me as David your father did, obeying all my commands, decrees, and regulations,18 then I will establish the throne of your dynasty. For I made this covenant with your father, David, when I said, 'One of your descendants will always rule over Israel.'
19 "But if you or your descendants abandon me and disobey the decrees and commands I have given you, and if you serve and worship other gods,20 then I will uproot the people from this land that I have given them. I will reject this Temple that I have made holy to honor my name. I will make it an object of mockery and ridicule among the nations.21 And though this Temple is impressive now, all who pass by will be appalled. They will ask, 'Why did the LORD do such terrible things to this land and to this Temple?'
22 "And the answer will be, 'Because his people abandoned the LORD, the God of their ancestors, who brought them out of Egypt, and they worshiped other gods instead and bowed down to them. That is why he has brought all these disasters on them.'"

Take a Load Off

I Gotz the remote! Pictures, Images and Photos
This cat knows how to take a load off...  But not quite what I mean...

We cannot carry the weight.  God is The One who is strong.  We are the vessels, but we are also weak.  He carries the message, we live it.  We walk the path, but He bends it in the right direction.  We rest in His Word while He breaks down the the walls.

We don't have to do all the work.  Don't feel that heavy weight.  You are not responsible.  You are not in control.  You are NOT THE CREATOR.  The only thing you are responsible for is you.  Do what He asks of you by living for Him.  Here is your responsibility:

Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters:  You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. -James 1:19

Guys.  We often fail here.   But this is the key.  When the world looks at you, do you want them to see someone who is like them or even more temperamental?  Someone who doesn't really wanna hear what they have to say because we're too busy giving our righteous thoughts or boasting in who we are?  No!  Why would they want to be like that?  Come on.  Let's get it together.

Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires.  So get rid of all the filth and evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts, for it has the power to save your souls.

But don't just listen to God's word.  You must do what it says.  Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.  -James 1:20-22

You don't have to be a great actor to fool yourself into this.

If you claim to be religious but don't control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless.  Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.  -James 1:26-27

Guys, every single word in that last paragraph is so important.

Control your tongue.  If not, everything you are trying to do and be for God is worthless.

Care for those in need.  And not just by donating your old sneakers.

Refuse to let the world corrupt you.  It can.  Don't let it.  Be bold.  Be strong.  But let it be IN HIM, THROUGH THE SPIRIT, not through your own strength.

Rely on Him.  Take a deep breath.  Take a load off.

Working for the Lord through the World

city lights Pictures, Images and Photos

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.  Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

-Colossians 3:23-24

This is an instructional for "slaves."  Now I'm pretty sure we don't have that going on in America anymore... But God's Word is timeless.  It is forever true.  And this is not just to the type of "slaves" we knew of;  this is to those of us who work for other people.  Even the head honcho at your workplace has a boss... somewhere, they do.  So this is laid out pretty plainly for us.  We need to live with the supernatural in mind at all times.

Now read the beginning of that passage:

Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do.  Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you.  [God is always watching, isn't He?  And someone on earth is always watching you too... somewhere, they are.]  Serve them sincerely [honestly and truthfully intend to serve them] because of your reverent fear of the Lord.

Vs. 22-23

Now.   Reverence.  Do we have it?  In this day and age, it's not so common.  We haven't been taught it.  Or if we have, we have forgotten it, and are letting it slip through our communal fingers.  Not only do we not have it for others, but we often don't for our Father either.

As an encouragement in closing, read Colossians 4:1-6.

Have a great night, folks.  I know you guys who went to see Jeremy Camp had a great time!!!

Sleep well, sweet dreams, and all the fluffy good stuff, Tara K

worship no one can hear

Do you worship God in private? Do you lift your voice up even when only He can hear? Do you read and sing aloud the Word of God FOR God when no one else is around?

Or does that happen more often when others are around, or when you're in church?

It's a good question for all of us.

If u find yourself in the desert, don't give up. Persevere. Learn what He wants u 2 learn. Become who He wants u 2 b. B steadfast. Have peace. Don't get restless. Don't say goodbye and give up nor give in.

It is what u do n the desert that determines ur future. Don't take the easy road.

What is up peeps???

Remember me?
I just wanted to stop in and say hi.

Did you ever have a preacher that told the story abou the lottery and the power of prayer?

This is a random story, that a preacher told long ago at a church I attended and it has stuck with me. I often think back to it. Now, I know most of you have probably heard it before, but I wanted to tell it again anyways just in case someone out there hears it and gains a little inspiration.

So the Bible says if we have faith just the size of a tiny mustard seed, we can move mountains. Well, a guy who we will call Grayson, read that and decided that with the faith he had, he could definitely win the lottery.

Each day, Grayson would pray. "Dear Lord, I know that you are all powerful. I ask that you let me win the lottery today!" He prayed this prayer for days and days became weeks and weeks became months and months became years.

Finally, Grayson was older, but still every morning he would ease down to his knees and pray to win the lottery.

One evening, Grayson took his last breath and headed up to heaven. As he was lead through the gates he finally met the Lord. Grayson was a hardheaded man and he just had to know the answer to why his faith had not been fulfilled. He said, "Lord, I had so much faith. I knew that I would win the lottery. I prayed every day for years! Why did you not let me win?"

The Lord looked at him and smiled and said, "Grayson, my son, why didn't you buy a ticket?"

You see, you can't just have faith with out action. The truth is, if you really have faith, you'll have the courage or the motivation to take that first step. Is there something in your life that you feel you have prayed and prayed about but are not making progress in? If so...maybe you're forgetting to buy your ticket.

God has blessed us so much. Sometimes He'll take so much of the weight that you feel like you should just be able to float through and forget that he also blessed you with the feet to do your own walking.

So I just want to encourage myself and anyone that might be reading to take a step, buy a ticket, use what God gave you! He's got so much in store for all of us!!!

Have a great day!!!

Potential Schmotential

The World is your canvas...
Color Splash Pictures, Images and Photos
So I've been seeing people with huge potential not reach it lately.  And I'm not talking "careers" here either, folks.  I'm talking about who we are!  Not only do they not reach it, but instead, they are running in the opposite direction!  Why?  Is it because we are scared of our greatness, of responsibility, of true surrender?

I don't know.  I honestly cannot tell you why.  At first, I could assume it was because of not enough confidence, too much competition, thinking we are too busy, or perhaps just because of misdirection.

But I am thinking it is more than that now.  Surely we don't let petty things like that get in the way of our greatness?  Surely we don't let simplemindedness or selfishness get in the way of total surrender to God?  Right?

Or is that just it?  Do we think, deep deep down inside, that total surrender sounds too scary?  It's not!  From experience, I can tell you that it is so nice to be able to breathe and just "Let God!"

Is it pride?  Are we cowards?

I don't know.  But I find it hard to have sympathy.  You've gotta work your way to the top.  It's not gonna happen over night.  You've gotta work your way to greatness.  It's not like instant potatoes.  It takes time, love, dedication, sacrifice and care.

Don't spew out negativity.

Don't you wanna get look back on your life and see all the crazy hard stuff you did, and think, yeah.  I really did give it my best shot.  No fear.

We've all gotta work on our potential.  I know I need to.

Here Comes the Controversy

president Pictures, Images and Photos
Woo wee.  I got all fired up today about something I read yesterday.  Didn't realize it made me so passionate...

So our president made a speech to the kids of America a few days ago (?).  I had read somewhere that it was "sinister," which made me wanna have a read at this speech.  So I clicked on the link and read every single bit of it.  It was the kind of speech, to me, that your basketball coach would give you to make you wanna be the best you can be.  An authoritative speech directed towards kids asking them to them obey their teachers, give forth their best efforts, work hard at developing their talents, and in time, a better world will become of it.  Yes, he said a few times that it would make a better America.  But to me, it would make a better life for us all.  When we all try our best, and we put forth every effort to be respectful and hard-working, we will see a better tomorrow.  In turn, people will begin to treat us differently.

He even mentioned that he had a hard life;  he didn't always have the money or fatherly influence that other kids had.  But that was no excuse to treat people rudely and without respect.

I dunno.  Your thoughts?  Am I missing something?  Are these not good things to strive for?  Sure.  Do these things for a better America.  But for those of us who believe in Jesus Christ, the Savior of our world, do it for Him!  Jesus was one who respected.  He was also one who stood boldly for what He believed in.  He never gave in to temptation.  He was gentle, kind, yet bold in Spirit.

Many of us did not vote for President Obama to become our president.  But now that he is our president, many have chosen to pray for him, as we should!  I believed this speech to be very encouraging to the younger generations to stand strong and to not give in.  Do you not believe your prayers for our president to be so powerful?  Do you not believe in what prayer can do at all?

Here is the link to the speech.  Let me know what ya think:  http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/PreparedSchoolRemarks

Labor Day Weekend

Well, for my Labor Day weekend, I've been feeling pretty silly.  We've had fun laughing and such... but you may find yourself feeling a bit stuck.  There is someone... or something like you out there that feels the same way:

Feeling Stuck?

Feel like singing?

I hope you've had a great weekend... whatever it is that you may find yourself doing!  Let's thank God for work, past, present and future.  And for our country!  For your family, and this time with them!

In Him, Tara K

Pieces

Together Pictures, Images and Photos

How to fit the pieces together.  Just right.
Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes?  There is hope for a fool than for him
.
-Proverbs  26:12
I know it sounds simple, but we have to keep that in check.  Where does your wisdom come from?

The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.
-Proverbs 28:1
Does it take someone else to light a fire under you to get you motivated, or are you one of the ones taking action, being bold, standing strong?

Whoever walks in integrity will be delivered, but he who is crooked in his ways will suddenly fall.
-Proverbs 28:18
Integrity of the world verses integrity of the Word.  Usually very different.  Our ways can be crooked without us even realizing it.  Don't let the world's integrity be yours.  Let the Word give you the advice; let the Word be the example you follow.

One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.
-Proverbs 29:23
Growing up, in order to toughen us up, we are told to have confidence and take pride in ourselves.  But the confidence and pride that we have should be in who we are IN Jesus, and who we are BECAUSE of Him.  Therefore knowing these things we are lowly in our own spirit; we know where are strength comes from, and that we are undeserving.

In order to obtain His honor, we must find holiness.  In order to find holiness, we must have repentance.  In order to be in TRUE repentance, we must confess our sins, and truly mean and understand the wrong in what we've done, which makes us not WANT to commit these sins again.  You will be broken, not hurt.  Do you know the difference?  Being broken, you know that there are pieces of you that only God can put together.  When you are broken, it's not about you anymore- it's the greater purpose.

It takes a lot of self-reflection and prayer.  We will never get to a perfect being, but let's strive to be like our best buddy in His honor!  I'm right there with ya!

Real Vision

Fisheye New York Pictures, Images and Photos
Just when you need to toughen up the most, you back down.
Just when you need to show what you've got, apparently you haven't.
Just when your courage needs to be at it's bravest, it's unsure.

If this is you, quit.  Not quit as in, give up.  Quit as in, quit with your insecurities, with your loss of hope, with your high horse, quit with thinking you're better than others, quit with thinking if only I was somewhere or someone else, quit taking a beating, for the beating comes not in what others are doing to you, but what you allow.  You have a problem with where you are?  You have a problem with your people, with your life?  Stand up and tell and work for what you want.  Don't look for it elsewhere.  It is IN you.  Not around you.  Stand up and tell and work for what you truly believe in your prayers what God wants.

Disbelief.  Disbelief is all it is.  Disbelief in Your Father.  The One who made every thing on earth work in harmony.

We are the species with the most intelligent free will.  And we are the most unfaithful of all God's creations.  And He still loves us more than the lilies.  And yet, they don't toil or spin.

Quit quitting.  Get up and make a difference.

Smacker Puppy

Somebody just kept licking her lips while she was half-awake.  Haha.  Don't know what that was all about.  But in still pics, she looks like she's either quite parched or is in need of a dentist.

Anyway, today I just wanted to encourage you to participate in your church activities.  Fall is starting back, so bring a friend with you to your next meeting, rehearsal, or fellowship.  You may just start a fun new fall trend.  Encourage others to get involved as well.  Challenge them.

If you're not involved anywhere now, now is the PERFECT time to join a new group!  Everything kicks back into full action at churches during the fall- ESPECIALLY these next couple of weeks.

I dare you!

Ooo, and you know what else I dare you to do?  If you've been there, done that, and are burnt out... Don't quit or stop!  Instead, start a NEW ministry- one that you're really passionate about!  Or start taking on a new role in the ministry you feel you're kinda done with.  It'll definitely re-spark the desire you had when you first started!

Also get involved in your community.  Go through your closet and kitchen, see what you could do without, and offer it to someone who has none!

You can even go to heartsofchrist.org and give kids shoes, pencils, paper, etc.  to those who have none!  That's right.  No shoes at all!  Our kids have got at least two pair, right?  Most of us.

Just a thought.  Love you much!  Have a great weekend!!!

Buh-Right

5 Pictures, Images and Photos
Being careful isn't easy.  It takes time.  We could use a "slow down" sometimes, right, kids?

Carefully determine what pleases the Lord.  Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.  [Sounds scary... but exciting!]  It is shameful even to talk about the things that ungodly people do in secret.  [Makes me wanna change my DVR like, now!  I think I will when I get home!!!]  But their evil intentions will be exposed when the light shines on them, for the light makes everything visible.  This is why it is said,

"Awake, O sleeper,
rise up from the dead,
and Christ will give you light."

So be careful how you live.  Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.  Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days.  Don't act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do.

Ephesians 6:10-17

You're responsible for you; no one else is.  And that's a great place to start.

Fearless

You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety.  Job 11:18
Praise Be to Him Pictures, Images and Photos

There is a lot to be fearful of.  I say, Be Fearless.  Why not?  Security can be found:

"If only you would prepare your heart
and lift up your hands to him in prayer!
Get rid of all your sins,
and leave all iniquity behind you.
Then your face will brighten with innocence.
You will be strong and free of fear.
You will forget your misery;
it will be like water flowing away.
Your life will be brighter than the noonday.
Even darkness will be as bright as morning.
Having hope will give you courage.
You will be protected and will rest in safety.
You will lie down unafraid,
and many will look to you for help.
But the wicked will be blinded.
They will have no escape.  Their only hope is death."

Job 11:13-20

Didn't mean to get all "deathy" on you.  It kinda comes out of nowhere, right?  But it is there, after all.  So enjoy the words before it, but keep the last two lines in the back of your mind.  Don't get to the point where you're blinded.  Because how will you know if you are?

God will hold you up, my friends!

Strength Will Rise

small Pictures, Images and Photos
Staring into the great unknown, your feet below hit the ground full speed ahead.  You run and you run, but you feel like you're not getting anywhere.  You're tired out.  But no worries because God doesn't get tired out.

Why would you ever complain, O Jacob,
or whine, Israel, syaing,
"God has lost track of me.
He doesn't care what happens to me"?
Don't you know anything?  Haven't you been listening?
God doesn't come and go.  God lasts.
He's Creator of all you can see or imagine.
He doesn't get tired out, doesn't pause to catch his breath.
And he knows everything, inside and out.
He energizes those who get tired,
gives fresh strength to dropouts.
For even young people tire and drop out,
young folk in their prime stumble and fall.
But those who wait upon God get fresh strength.
They spread their wings and soar like eagles,
They run and don't get tired,
they walk and don't lag behind.

Isaiah 40:27-31

"Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord."

Capable of Everything

world Pictures, Images and Photos

God is capable of anything and everything.  He can destroy this entire earth with one thought, one breath.  But He chooses not to.  Jesus was capable of anything and everything that a normal human was capable of.  He could've committed the ugliest sins.  But He chose not to.

For us.

Simply saying, "thank you," and that we're grateful just doesn't seem like enough when you look at it that way.  We could be destroyed and unforgiven just because They say so.  But They don't.

Let's have love and grace like that.

So thank God for his marvelous love,
for his miracle mercy to the children he loves.

Fall Right Into Place

To My Ladies

holler. Pictures, Images and Photos
Ladies, whether you're married or not, you're a good woman down deep.  This is a "Hymn to a Good Wife:"

A good woman is hard to find,
and worth far more than diamonds.
Her husband trusts her without reserve,
and never has reason to regret it.
Never spiteful, she treats him generously
all her life long...
Charm can mislead and beauty soon faes.
The woman to be admired and praised
is the woman who lives in the Fear-of-God.
Give her everything she deserves!
Festoon her life with praises!

Proverbs 31:10-12, 31-30

Kinda motivated me, anyway...

Staying at our Post

Live Link Pictures, Images and Photos

God is so cool.  I mean, it's the tiny little things that He does that I think I usually enjoy the most because they're so unexpected.  Like this morning, as I was going to read about who knows what, and I turned right at this message in THE MESSAGE//REMIX, which is pretty cool in itself.  But anyhoo, it's so well laid out that I don't even need to elaborate on it.  It speaks just as we do:

Well, now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped.  Don't put it off; don't frustrate God's work by showing up late, throwing a question mark over everything we're doing.  Our work as God's servants gets validated -or not- in the details.  People are watching us as we stay at our post, alertly, unswervingly . . . in hard times, tough times, bad times; when we're beaten up, jailed, and mobbed, working hard, working late, working without eating; with pure heart, clear head, steady hand; in gentleness, holiness, and honest love; when we're telling the truth, and when God's showing his power; when we're doing our best setting things right; when we're praised, and when we're blamed; slandered, and honored; true to our word, though distrusted; ignored by the world, but recognized by God; terrifically alive, though rumored to be dead [!!! I love that one!!!]; beaten within an inch of our lives, but refusing to die; immersed in tears, yet always filled with deep joy; living on handouts, yet enriching many; having nothing, having it all.

Dear, dear Corinthians, I can't tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life.  We didn't fence you in.  The smallness you feel comes from within you.  Your lives aren't small, but you're living them in a small way.  I'm speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection.  Open up your lives.  Live openly and expansively!

2 Corinthians 6:3-13

Wow!  What a word!  I have nothing to say.  What an encouragement.

Do you feel it?!

Have a blessed one.  THE MESSAGE//REMIX also says:

READ. THINK. PRAY. LIVE.

Sometimes we forget the "think."  Sometimes we forget to even "read."  But when we do the first three, WE LIVE!!!

Easy Button in a Hard Day

Easy Button Pictures, Images and Photos
Ever had those days (or even, weeks!) when you're so busy that you can't even find time to take a trip to the restroom?  Yeah.  Been one of those weeks for me too.  But it's all in blessing, so I'm definitely not complaining.  However, you have your routine, right?  We all do.  I like to have my quiet time with God in the morning.  But when I got woken up earlier than normal, and had to get out of the house pronto, and not able to return until that night...  Well, you've all been there, I'm sure.  The day ends up leaving you somewhat frustrated, but you don't even have time to think about being frustrated...  Then when you finally get home, you realize... Hello!  It's because I didn't have my alone time with my God, who is your Best Bud.  Mmm-hmm.  What is it about Him that puts us at ease?  Why is He able to calm us in a storm, make us giggle when there's nothing funny, give us a driven desire to have purpose in our day when it seems so ordinarily unimportant?

Could it be, that when we pray, especially as Jesus instructed, we allow God to fill us instead of trying to fill and do everything ourselves?  He says it all in the well-known prayer from Matt. 6.

Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God.  Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage.  The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.

The world is full of so-called prayer warriors who are prayer-ignorant.  They're full of formulas and programs and advice, peddling techniques for getting what you want from God.  Don't fall for that nonsense.  This is your Father you are dealing with, and he knows better than you what you need.

So when we leave it up to us, and leave God behind or set Him aside, that's when it falls apart.

So, even if we're gonna have to leave something out of our routine... even if it's coffee  (oh no!), then let it be.  Make time with God your priority.

Even when life gets tough.

Sometimes, it's a simple message like this that can make the most difficult situations and the most spiritual people, even, take a step back and just breathe Him in.

He's all you need.

He's your easy button on a hard day, Tara K

Weeds

Weeds in the dark Pictures, Images and Photos
I think I had the longest conversation of my life yesterday.  It lasted from about 10:50 am until about 6 pm.  No joke.  I barely had time to pee.  ;)  Thankfully, it was with one of the coolest folks I've met in my entire life.  So all in all, a pretty good day.  Quite mentally exhausting, as you would guess, but swell nevertheless.

Let's say, I learned a lot.

You know, being smart is not the same as having wisdom.  Having a lot of information does not make you wise.

Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding.  Proverbs 2:2.  So apparently, we can hear a lot of stuff, even have it written down, and even read stuff... but that doesn't mean that we know what we're reading.  He tells us to concentrate on it.

A lot of what God wants us to do has to do with patience, doesn't it?  Concentration takes time.  Waiting on the Lord takes time.  Being slow to speak, and slow to anger, takes a little cool-down time.  Growing... obviously...  It takes time.

The only thing that grows a mile overnight is nothing but a weed.

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

To learn, you must love discipline;
it is stupid to hate correction.

Proverbs 1:7, 12:1

The book of Proverbs tells you a lot of do's and do not's that you might have not even considered before.  It always convicts me when I read it.  Especially today.  But God gives us grace.  ...When you are tempted, He will show you a way out so that you can endure.  1 Corinthians 10:13

So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God.  There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.  Hebrews 4:16

He's A Knockin'

jesus Pictures, Images and Photos
Oh my!  When I saw this picture, whew!  It really got me.  Do you think that's what it looks like all day long with Jesus?  Just trying to get us to open the door?  Just to visit, chat, hang, hug us, hold our hand...?

Well, what up, my Thursday readers?  Yesterday we had a question about prayer (check the blog below), and today we are answering through Scripture (and Dr. Greg's books!).

Again, I'd suggest buying these books instead of just reading my interpretation.  But I wanna discuss nevertheless.

What is prayer all about?  Let's answer a question with a question:

1. What does Jesus say is the most important and greatest commandment?
You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.  (Matthew 22:37)  Key word:  All.  Not after the laundry, or the gym, or work, or your favorite t.v. show.
2. What is the one way to eternal life?  How should that apply to the rest of our life?
And this is the way to have eternal life- to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.  (John 17:3) How do we "know" God and Jesus?  Well, how do you get to know people?  By talking with them.  By spending time with them.  How do you get to know God?  Through prayer.  That's how we communicate.  That's what prayer is; talking, listening and getting to know God, just like you would in any other relationship.   "It is impossible to develop this relationship without spending significant time with God." -Dr. Frizzell.
3. Don't you wanna hear God better, to know what He really wants for your life?
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.  (Jeremiah 29:13)  Two important words here:  "Wholeheartedly" and "Find."  Words were chosen for God's Word carefully! Wholeheartedly doesn't mean search with a little, or even most, of your heart.  Get it?  whole heartedly!  Whole!  All the way!  And Find.  He didn't say, get glances, or see from a distance, almost in view...  Find!  Hold on to!  Grasp!  See!  God can be right there!   "Unless you spend significant time in regular prayer, God's voice will be difficult to discern." -Dr. Frizzell.

Friends, these are only a few notes from a tiny few points Dr. Greg Frizzell wants to point out.  God wants to point them out!  He wants to know you so very bad!

Prayer is not primarily about asking and receiving.  It is firstly about a relationship.  "Not a wish list,"  Dr. Greg says.

Wanna know something?  Everything in this life, everything you own right now, will be gone in a few short years.  At least, in comparison to eternity, it is a few short years, days, even seconds.  Time won't exist.  Looking on your life right now, what will you take with you?  Money?  No.  Status?  No.  Accomplishments outside of those toward The Kingdom?  None.  A fight you had with your best friend?  No.  The amazing job opportunities?  Nope.

What do you want to have with you in eternity?  How about those people you led to Christ because you were more in tune with God because of the relationship you had with Him?

Challenge! Need Your Participation!

Good Morning Pictures, Images and Photos
Good morning!  So I'm sittin' here with my coffee in my favorite mug, reading a pretty sweet book, so, of course, I have to tell ya all about it.  Did you expect anything else from me?  ;)

How could I not?

We just had the Perry Stone of prayer at our church this week, so how could I not write on things he and his book say?  ;)

His name is Dr. Gregory R. Frizzell, if you haven't heard from me (or anyone else) before.  One of his goals is to bring not only this country, but no joke, the entire world, to "fully understand and experience a dynamic prayer life."  And to no surprise to me, that may not sound very appealing.  Deep down... waaaaaay down... in the depths of your desires, you may not think that prayer is essential or more important than just asking God for needs.  But thank God for Dr. Greg.  He even says, "Until you are totally convinced of the importance of prayer, you are not likely to take the necessary steps to achieve one."  Now, to me, that sounds like most of us just don't grasp what prayer is all about.  So I want you to tell me.  That's right.  Tell me, and others if you want me to post it, what you think prayer is all about.  I'm gonna post this on facebook, twitter, etc.  You can either post it publicly, email me (tk@2911theplan.com) and/or send me a private message so that I can make your quote anonymous, if you'd like.  I'd like us all to get into this discussion to help us grow.  Not to argue, but to discuss and learn.

It's about time for a revival, isn't it?  Everywhere?

Talk to ya soon, Tara K

Serious Bag

serious bag Pictures, Images and Photos

Serious business?  Definitely so.  We are either for God, or we are against Him.  It's one or the other in every decision we make throughout the day.

So when James 1:5-8 says,

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you.  He will not rebuke you for asking.  But when you ask him, be sure that your faith is in God alone.  Do not waver, for a person with divided loyalty is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is blown and tossed by the wind.  Such people should not expect to receive anything from the Lord.  Their loyalty is divided between God and the world, and they are unstable in everything they do.

Hard-hitting stuff that we might not wanna hear.  But it's truth.  You know, the ministries we are involved in- are you personally in them to receive any glory to yourself or recognition or status or even... yikes... money?  Even a little bit?

These verses tell us that if we are in it for anything but, we should expect nothing from God.

I don't know about you, kids, but this is always one of those verses, like James 1:19-27 (about being slow to speak, anger, etc.) that we could remind ourselves of daily.

By grace only, Tara K

Wanna See God REALLY Move?

Prayer Pictures, Images and Photos
Words I post in blogs are never enough of what God could say, nor are they straight from Him or even worth reading unless it's a quote from the bible.  Don't take what I say as guidance.  Do the reading for yourself.  I'm only here to share with you.  Not at you.  I'm far from worthy of that.

At our church yesterday and today, we've been having some conferences with Dr. Greg Frizzell.  Let me rephrase that.  We've been extremely blessed to have too few conferences with Dr. Greg Frizzell at our church the past couple of days.  Great man.  Wise.  Been there and back.  Look him up:  www.frizzellministries.org

Anyhoo.  He said something that caught my attention.  Well, actually he said a whole lotta lotta things that caught my attention, convicted me, encouraged me, and have put me to work already in my personal prayer life...  But the one thing I wanted to relay to you today that he said was (and this is not an exact quote... paraphrasing...):

Don't let your church activities or personal ministry be a substitute for your intimacy with God.

We don't even realize we do that.  He said that he often does things (such as this) without realizing he's doing it.  We often think we're doing our spiritual and Christian duty by reaching out to the lost, giving to the poor, sacrificing a few nights a week to church ministries or ministries of our own, for example.  But that does not have anything to do with our intimacy with God.  Sure, it's like giving Him a gift.  Or kind of our way of telling Him, "thanks.  I appreciate all you do for me.  I hope this satisfies You.  I hope You find joy in what I'm doing for You."  But that has nothing to do with the intimacy.  Intimacy is much much deeper than that.

His conference is called, "Going Deeper with God."  In Sunday morning's conferences, he used Jeremiah 29:11-13.  And from me, personally, I've reminded you a lot that, in verse 11, God says that He has great plans for you.  No plans to harm you, only to give you a great future and a hope.  But Dr. Frizzell made verses 12 and 13 show the power and the relevance behind verse 11:

"In those days, when you pray, I will listen.  If you look for Me wholeheartedly, you will find me.  I will be found by you," says the Lord.

Now notice what he says.  When looking for Him with all our heart, He will listen, and we will find Him.  When looking for Him wholeheartedly.  Dr. Frizzell mentioned that, when doing our little "quiet time" or our little devotional time, we read our little passage or verse, pray for God to bless this, bless that, heal him... la di dah.  Our "wish list" as he called it.  We're not searching wholeheartedly.  We're not turning off the cell phone, going into our "closet." (As The Word tells us.  Which means to shut yourself off from the rest of the house, world, etc., and to be completely and utterly alone with Him and Him only.)  We're not listening to what He's gotta say to us.  We're not praying Scriptures to Him for certain people or certain situations.  In other words, it's shallow.  We do our little Christian duty, and think we're so special and honorable and righteous.  When we begin to think we're righteous, that's when we need to give ourselves a big ole' kick in the butt.

We're not experiencing revivals in our country because our country is known for everything and anything "instant."  We always think that everything happens instantly, and if it doesn't... well, it apparently isn't God's Will if He's not speaking to us or moving mountains or situations.  And the phrase, "God's Will," has become sort of a "well, God... if you really want that for me... I guess that's okay."  As if His Will is something we have to unfortunately accept.  If we would just sit and listen and shut off the rest of the world for a little while a day to get to know our God intimately, we will find that His Will is what we want most!

Dr. Frizzell suggested that you add about 10-15 more minutes onto your daily quiet time/devotion time every day for about 7 weeks to just pray to Him, talk to Him, through Scripture, and to simply listen and wait for what He has to say.  And He will become more real to you.  You will find joy that you've never had!  You will see the Will of God better.  Now to get the entirety of what Dr. Frizzell was saying, go to the website I offered above.

He also said that a study found that 1 in 2 marriages in America(?) end in divorce.  But a family that prays together on a regular basis, the odds were much different.  Different as in, 1 in 1,256  (I believe) ended in divorce.  Big difference, am I right?  Dr. Frizzell even joked, "and one of 'em was probably lying."

But don't bother doing all of this if what you want to get out of it is personal success.  Do it to become intimate with your Creator, because you want to get to know Him.

Leading to Love

Sweet Lyrics
Ain't No Reason, Brett Dennen

"There ain’t no reason things are this way.
Its how they always been and they intend to stay.
I can't explain why we live this way, we do it everyday.
Preachers on the podium speakin’ to saints,
Prophets on the sidewalk beggin’ for change,
Old ladies laughing from the fire escape, cursing my name.
I got a basket full of lemons and they all taste the same,
A window and a pigeon with a broken wing,
You can spend your whole life workin’ for something
Just to have it taken away.
People walk around pushing back their debts,
Wearing pay checks like necklaces and bracelets,
Talking ‘bout nothing, not thinking ‘bout death,
Every little heartbeat, every little breath.
People walk a tight rope on a razors edge
Carrying their hurt and hatred and weapons.
It could be a bomb or a bullet or a pen
Or a thought or a word or a sentence.

There Ain't no reason things are this way.
It's how they always been and they intend to stay
I don’t know why I say the things I say, but I say them anyway.
But love will come set me free
Love will come set me free,I do believe
Love will come set me free, I know it will
Love will come set me free, yes.

Prison walls still standing tall,
Some things never change at all.
Keep on buildin’ prisons, gonna fill them all,
Keep on buildin’ bombs, gonna drop them all.
Working your fingers bear to the bone,
Breaking your back, make you sell your soul.
Like a lung that’s filled with coal, suffocatin’ slow.
The wind blows wild and I may move,
The politicians lie and I am not fooled.
You don't need no reason or a three piece suit to argue the truth.
The air on my skin and the world under my toes,
Slavery stitched into the fabric of my clothes,
Chaos and commotion wherever I go, love I try to follow.

Love will come set me free
Love will come set me free, I do believe
Love will come set me free, I know it will
Love will come set me free, yes.

There ain't no reason things are this way
It’s how they always been and they intend to stay
I can't explain why we live this way, we do it everyday."

You know what Jesus says about love, right?

Thought you would enjoy this from Brett Dennen. Always nice to get others' perspectives.

Love is the greatest gift we can give. Living love, not to condemn, but leading to Truth.

Ain't Nothin But a Thang

Ain't nothin but a thang.

Ever heard that life is hard, God is good? Life, unfortunately, is hard. But it doesn't have to be... All the time. Most times, life isn't hard- we just make it that way. BECAUSE God is good, life shouldn't be so hard. Yes, there are pretty extremely things that happen to us. And when those things happen in our lives, we realize that a lot of the tough stuff just ain't so tough anymore.

Be optimistic today. You'll be letting God know just how much you believe that HE IS GOOD.

Hallelujah.

Funny... To Me... Friday

Don't mean to be crude, but there's not more that makes me laugh quite like a toot.  Enjoy.

And as always, enjoy You Tube at your own risk.

Just for toots and giggles!  -Tara K
